Dodgers Star Sets Monumental Goal for 2026 — LA Can Make It Reality

For the second consecutive year, the Los Angeles Dodgers were celebrating after winning yet another World Series, but the message during the parade was clear: We are not done yet. LA won their third Fall Classic in five years, cementing them as the newest baseball dynasty.

However, the Dodgers’ franchise player and face of baseball, Shohei Ohtani, set clear expectations for next season, telling fans that he is “ready to win another ring next year.”

Dave Roberts echoed these sentiments, saying he talked to Pat Riley, who allowed him to use the trademarked phrase ‘threepeat’ as the message for the Dodgers’ 2026 season. Roberts then asked Dodger fans in attendance, “What’s better than two?” to which the crowd shouted back with a resounding threeeee!

They are only the eighth team ever to capture back-to-back titles. If they succeed in 2026, the Dodgers would become just the third MLB franchise to win three consecutive World Series, joining the historic Yankees and Athletics. T The last team to three-peat was the 1998–2000 Yankees, led by Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, and Joe Torre, while the 1972–74 Athletics also achieved the feat.

The Dodgers are a dynasty, so many would wonder how this team could possibly improve. Well, it starts by keeping the guys from this year’s team. General manager Andrew Friedman moved quickly to do so, starting by picking up the club option on the franchise’s all-time postseason home run leader, Max Muncy. Additionally, he resigned fan favorite Kiké Hernandez to a one-year deal. This year’s playoff hero, infielder Miguel Rojas, told JM Baseball he would like to come back for one more season, too, and Ohtani wants him to play for the Dodgers for 10 more years!

The next issue is the offense and bullpen. In 2024, the Dodgers won the World Series with incredible contributions from the offense and the bullpen, but no help from their starting pitching. So what did Andrew Friedman and the front office do? They added firepower to the rotation with aces Blake Snell, Roki Sasaki, and Tyler Glasnow.

They won the 2025 World Series in the exact opposite way, not much contribution from the offense or bullpen, but an incredible effort from the starting pitching, specifically, from World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Los Angeles only hit .203 for the playoffs on the way to the 2025 title, while the bullpen had one of the highest ERAs in all of baseball. If the Dodgers have any chance of three-peating, the offense and bullpen will need to improve.

There are plenty of options available in this year’s upcoming free agent class. They are currently linked to power hitters Kyle Tucker and Munetaka Murakami. These potential bats would add the firepower to the lineup Los Angeles will need for October 2026. The Dodgers could also trade for an outfielder such as White Sox’ Luis Robert.

For bullpen relief, the best target would be former Mets ace Edwin Diaz. The reliever who once captured the hearts of New Yorkers with his electric fastball and walkup song has now fallen out of favor with the organization and will become a free agent. He is exactly the type of closer the bullpen needs with lights-out stuff. He is somebody Dodgers fans will love.

Even though the organization is not satisfied, that does not mean we cannot celebrate this unbelievable run they have accomplished. Dodgers fans should feel encouraged to celebrate this incredible run, but should feel assured knowing that the front office is already looking for ways to load up for next year’s team.

It is always tempting to wonder about the promise of next year, but it is also important to live in the moment and celebrate all that this year’s 2025 Dodgers team has accomplished. The Dodgers have set expectations for another parade in October 2026.

Hope to see you all there again next year.
