The Los Angeles Dodgers made a flurry of pitching moves Sunday, highlighted by the surprising decision to designate veteran reliever Luis Garcia for assignment. The move opened a spot on the active roster for right-hander Noah Davis, while the club also reinstated Edgardo Henriquez from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Garcia’s Future Uncertain After DFA

Garcia, 38, is in his 13th MLB season, having pitched for eight different teams. While his career 4.20 ERA and 3.97 FIP paint the picture of a league-average reliever, his recent struggles made his roster spot vulnerable. In 27.1 innings this season, Garcia posted a 5.27 ERA with an underwhelming 19.0% strikeout rate and a concerning 12.7% walk rate. Despite some signs of bad luck—such as an unusually high .388 BABIP—his overall performance fell short of expectations.
The Dodgers now have a week to trade Garcia or try to pass him through waivers. Given his service time, he can elect free agency if unclaimed.
Davis Earns Another Shot
In Garcia’s place, the Dodgers recalled Noah Davis. The 27-year-old has a 4.34 ERA in Triple-A this season and last pitched for the big-league club on June 1, throwing two scoreless innings. Since joining the Dodgers from Boston before Opening Day, Davis has made four appearances, allowing three earned runs over 4.2 innings.
Henriquez Rejoins 40-Man, Awaits Return
Meanwhile, Edgardo Henriquez was activated from the 60-day IL and optioned to Triple-A. He debuted last season with a 2.70 ERA in limited action but missed the start of 2025 with a foot injury. The 22-year-old remains a candidate to rejoin the Dodgers’ bullpen later this summer, pending further development in Oklahoma City.
