The Los Angeles Dodgers are entering the most critical stretch of their season with the National League West title hanging in the balance. Heading into Monday’s action, the Dodgers hold just a one-game edge over the surging San Diego Padres, and every lineup card Dave Roberts fills out carries added weight. The good news for Los Angeles: reinforcements are on the way.
Roberts offered several positive updates over the weekend, highlighted by the return of Max Muncy and Alex Vesia, both expected to be activated from the injured list on Monday. Muncy had been sidelined with an oblique strain, while Vesia also dealt with an oblique issue. Tommy Edman, out since early August with a sprained ankle, is also nearing activation.

The most encouraging development, however, involves Tyler Glasnow. The right-hander was scratched from his scheduled start on Friday in Baltimore due to back tightness, which forced Shohei Ohtani to take the mound on short notice. Roberts emphasized the decision was precautionary.
“Coming into [Friday], early this afternoon, Tyler reported having back tightness,” Roberts explained. “To not kind of tempt fate we just figured with back tightness … the hope is we push him back a few days and he can make a start early next week. We just didn’t want to put him in harm’s way.”
Roberts confirmed Glasnow is slated to pitch in the Dodgers’ upcoming series against the Colorado Rockies. The 31-year-old has been sharp since returning from the injured list in July, posting a 3.02 ERA over nine starts.
The Dodgers weren’t without setbacks: rookie Dalton Rushing landed on the IL after fouling a ball off his leg, and All-Star catcher Will Smith remains day-to-day with a hand contusion. Still, with Glasnow, Muncy, Vesia, and soon Edman back in the mix, Los Angeles appears to be getting healthy at the right time.
