Dodgers Lead the Way with Five All-Star Selections, Highlighted By Kershaw’s 11th Nod and Yamamoto’s Debut

The Los Angeles Dodgers will once again be front and center on baseball’s biggest summer stage, sending a league-best five players to the 2025 MLB All-Star Game on July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta.

A Living Legend and a Rising Star

Headlining the Dodgers’ selections is Clayton Kershaw, named to his 11th All-Star team as a “Legend Pick” by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred. Kershaw, who returned midseason from injury, has posted a 4-0 record with a 3.43 ERA in nine starts. While he declined to comment on the honor, his inclusion places him in elite company alongside past legend picks Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera.

Joining him on the National League staff is rookie sensation Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The 26-year-old right-hander, who owns a 2.51 ERA over 17 starts, was selected for his first MLB All-Star appearance after previously earning five NPB All-Star nods in Japan. “He’s shown the ability to beat good ballclubs, pitch big games, and limit damage,” said manager Dave Roberts. “I’m just really impressed with what he’s done in a year and a half.”

Three Dodgers were elected as starters by fan vote: Shohei Ohtani (DH), Freddie Freeman (1B), and Will Smith (C). Ohtani, the NL’s top vote-getter, earned his fifth straight start. Freeman, in his ninth All-Star appearance, returns to Atlanta where he starred for 12 seasons. Smith, in his third consecutive selection, will start for the first time after leading NL catchers in batting average and OPS.

Depth Beyond the Stars

While outfielder Andy Pages and several other Dodgers were left off the initial roster, injury replacements remain a possibility. Despite setbacks, L.A.’s core remains strong, and their All-Star presence underscores the team’s continued relevance in a highly competitive National League.

As Roberts prepares to manage the NL squad, it’s clear the Dodgers’ impact — past, present, and future — will be on full display in Atlanta.
