The Los Angeles Dodgers have won back-to-back World Series titles, and one former MLB general manager doesn’t expect the team to seal their wallets. Over the past two offseasons, Los Angeles have spent plenty of money to land players like Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Blake Snell in free agency.
Moreover, as the Dodgers look to secure a three-peat in 2026, they could be looking to spend big again for a third straight offseason to bolster their offense. While Los Angeles did win the World Series, their offense did struggle at times against the Toronto Blue Jays in the seven-game series.
With the offense struggling, could the Dodgers decide to go after the biggest bat on the market? Los Angeles need to consider replacing some of the older talent long-term if they want to continue this championship cycle in the Ohtani window.

Will the Dodgers Land the Top Prize in MLB Free Agency?

Is Jim Harbaugh The Real Life Ted Lasso?
As MLB free agency approaches, the top name on the market will be Kyle Tucker, who spent the 2025 MLB season with the Chicago Cubs and could be on the move. Furthermore, former MLB general manager Jim Bowden predicts that Tucker will head to the Dodgers, a move sure to frustrate fans of other teams across the league.
“I think, realistically, he gets a 10-year deal,” Bowden said on Monday’s edition of “Foul Territory.” “The thing that Tucker does is he’s 30 homers, he’s 30 steals, he’s plus defense in right field, he’s a really good base runner, he’s a complete player. Now, he’s not the franchise player. You don’t want to sign him as the face of your franchise. You want to put him on a team where he’s going on a team that’s got a loaded lineup, and then there’s real value there.
“If you put him on the Dodgers, you put him in right field, move [Teoscar Hernández] to left, and now you got a plus defender in right field that you haven’t had all year, and another 30-homer, 30-steal guy in that lineup, he’s a perfect fit for the Los Angeles Dodgers.”
Los Angeles signed Michael Conforto last offseason to bolster their outfield, but in the playoffs, the veteran was an afterthought. As a result, going after a player like Tucker makes sense since he would be an outfielder for the foreseeable future and a major upgrade over what they have/
Where Else Could Kyle Tucker Sign?

While the Dodgers likely have the money to sign Tucker, it doesn’t mean they will. Los Angeles could decide to explore other players to fill multiple needs, and there’s the possibility that they dive into the Japanese market for a third straight offseason.
As a result, Bowden also mentioned other potential destinations if the Dodgers decide that giving a 10-year contract to Tucker isn’t what they want to do this winter.
“He’s a good fit for the New York Yankees,” Bowden added. “Put him in left field, and that short porch in right field—let him eat. I also like him with the Phillies, the Mets, and the Giants, but I think the best spot for him is the Dodgers or the Yankees. He’s going to get paid.
“I originally thought before the season started he might get $500. I don’t now. I’ve got him at 10 years, $427 million over 10, but really good player and a complete player.”
Whether it’s the Dodgers or another MLB team, Kyle Tucker will have plenty of suitors and get paid, according to Bowden. If it does end up being Los Angeles, it will be interesting to see how a marquee franchise like the Cubs reacts if they pass on paying the outfielder and Los Angeles steps in.
