It has been apparent that the Los Angeles Rams were ready to move on from cornerback Tre’Davious White after several weeks with him on the inactive list as a healthy scratch. McVay said as much last week when the team told reporters that they had cleared him to seek a trading partner.
With less than an hour left before the NFL trade deadline, the inevitable became immediate. White was traded to the Baltimore Ravens along with a 2027 seventh-round pick, in return for a 2026 seventh-round pick.
Rams Move White To Baltimore For A Pick Swap
The Rams took a big chance on signing the two-time All-Pro who was coming off back-to-back season-ending injuries, that forced him to miss 29 games over the last three seasons. The company line delivered by head coach Sean McVay was that they never intended to play White as much as they did at the beginning of the season, but due to injuries to Darious Williams and Derion Kendrick, they were forced to play him nearly 100 percent of the team’s defensive snaps. Once Williams returned from the injured reserve, White’s time with the Rams was essentially over. White hasn’t played a snap since his return.
The Rams are making a habit out of moving on from defenders. The team traded starting inside linebacker, Ernest Jones to the Tennessee Titans for a 2026 fifth-round pick. The Titans then traded Jones to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for Jerome Baker and a 2025 fourth-round draft pick.
Similar to the linebacker’s room with Jones out of the picture, the cornerback’s room now looks quite bare without White.
The starters consist of Darious Williams and Ahkello Witherspoon on the outside. The nickel corner spot is now in question as Josh Wallace was carted off the field against Seattle. In that game they mostly had Cobie Durant playing in the position. Behind them, they have just undrafted rookie, Charles Woods.
They also have Cam Lampkin and Shaun Jolly signed to their practice squad.
