Rams Offensive Lineman Gives Encouraging (And Funny) Injury Update

The Los Angeles Rams are getting healthier in just the nick of time. The return of wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp sparked the offense. They not only beat the 5-1 Minnesota Vikings, but they also put up a season-high in passing yards and points.

But they aren’t even entirely healthy. The offense still has two starters on the injured/reserve; offensive guard Steve Avila and center Jonah Jackson. And the team has been awfully quiet about their return timelines.

But today, we received the first, albeit, unofficial and perhaps completely fabricated update on when Avila will return to the lineup. Avila responded to X account, @AllAboutRams post asking him directly about how his knee was feeling with a popular meme of professional wrestler Kevin Nash rising from a wheelchair to reveal that he had been faking a knee injury. Avila Gives His Update On When He Expects To Return To Rams

Avila has been on the IR since shortly after the Rams Week 1 loss to the Detroit Lions. Since then it has been reported that he underwent surgery to repair the sprained MCL he suffered in the aforementioned game. Rams head coach Sean McVay said on Friday that the procedure was planned to help “accelerate healing” of the knee. The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that he was expected to be back in November.

Avila’s next chance to return will be next Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks on November 3rd.
