The Los Angeles Rams elevated undrafted rookie Cam Lampkin to the active squad after they announced that fellow undrafted rookie Charles Woods was ruled out for the second straight week with an ankle injury. Woods had also been on the injury report with a toe injury ahead of the Week 10 game.
Rams Elevate Cam Lampkin To Active Roster
Injuries to the Rams’ secondary have flown under the radar because of high-profile injuries on offense, but they have struggled since before the season. Both Derion Kendrick and Tre Tomlinson suffered season-ending injuries ahead of the season and starting cornerback Darious Williams spent the first four weeks on the injured reserve. The secondary also lost John Johnson in Week 2. He has been on the IR since.
These injuries, including Tre’Davious White’s poor performance — which resulted in his benching and eventual trade — have forced the Rams to reshuffle their secondary that includes Woods as a rotational piece in the defense as well as a significant player on special teams.
Lampkin was picked up after the draft from the Washington State Cougars. As a senior, he combined for 28 tackles, allowed a completion percentage of just 54 percent, and broke up six passes. He has played a handful of snaps on special teams this season.
Lampkin played his most snaps in the teams last preseason game. He combined for five tackles and missed none in that game. He was targeted five times and allowed three catches for just 30 yards and six yards after the catch.
