The Los Angeles Rams received a significant blow during their game against the Arizona Cardinals as star wide receiver Cooper Kupp was ruled doubtful to return with an ankle injury. The Athletic reported that Kupp limped off the field slightly before halftime. Kupp did not return to the sideline in the third quarter. And ultimately left the locker room in a walking boot.
Cooper Kupp Doubtful to Return To Cardinals Game
The team is already dealing with the absence of Puka Nacua, a promising second-year receiver who was placed on injured reserve earlier in the week with a PCL sprain. With Kupp now out, the Rams’ receiving corps is significantly depleted. Jordan Whittington and Tutu Atwell have picked up his snap share.
The Cardinals currently hold a commanding lead over the Rams, and the situation looks bleak for Los Angeles as the offense is averaging just 4.9 yards per play and has turned the ball over on downs twice and punted four times.
Kupp struggled to get fully healthy last season but looked to be back to his true form heading into the year. He appeared to once again be featured heavily in the offense. He was targeted 21 times in their inaugural game and was targeted six times in the first half of this game. He had recorded four catches for 47 yards before the injury.
Kupp missed the first four games of last season with a hamstring injury. He missed most of the second half of 2022 with a high ankle sprain.
