Analyst Suggests Rams Make Worst Possible Decision At QB

The Los Angeles Rams, under the guidance of a coach known for his intense competitive drive, find themselves in a precarious position. With an aging quarterback and no obvious successor, the team’s long-term outlook remains uncertain.

This has led many an analyst to look under every rock for Matthew Stafford’s heir apparent. Everyone from Sam Darnold, Bryce Young, Daniel Jones, and Dak Prescott has been suggested. While all of those come with a certain amount of risk, they don’t double down on the pickle the Rams are already in.

Rams QB Succession Plan?

But that is what Yahoo Sports Senior writer, Charles Robinson wrote in a recent article naming the Rams as a possible good landing spot for Aaron Rodgers. Here is his rationale;

Why it could happen: Like Shanahan and the 49ers, Sean McVay and the Rams had their own interest in Rodgers in 2021, prior to dealing for Matthew Stafford. There’s some question about whether or not Stafford will be in the fold next season, and they don’t have a clearly logical long-term option at the position. The overall roster isn’t the same quality as San Francisco, but Rodgers has a personal affinity for Los Angeles and there is enough offensive talent to at least have a nice one-season bridge opportunity for both quarterback and team.

Why it won’t happen: The Rams have salary-cap issues, so Rodgers would have to come in for nothing, and the team has shown little interest in rebuilding with anything but younger players. Adding Rodgers would merely be a one-season patch to try and win the Super Bowl in the 2025 season, and the Rams don’t look like they’re equipped for that with or without him. So what would be the point?

While Rodgers’s name carries plenty of clout, he hasn’t played up to the level that Stafford has over this season. Regardless of salary cap issues, Robinson is correct to finish his thoughts questioning the point of making the move.
