Will the Los Angeles Lakers make a roster move before the February 6 NBA trade deadline? Lakers rumors have suggested a potential trade could happen all season long, but like most teams, Los Angeles has stood pat, so far.
However, some of the most frequent Lakers trade rumors have focused on a potential deal for a center upgrade, which would push Anthony Davis to the power forward position. Yet, Lakers fans may not want to hold their breath.

Los Angeles Lakers not expected to trade for Nikola Vucevic

Some of the Los Angeles Lakers trade targets the team has frequently been linked to include Utah’s Walker Kessler, Toronto’s Jakob Poeltl, and Chicago’s Nikola Vucevic. Each would add more size to an already stifling Lakers lineup that features the likes of a 6-foot-10 Anthony Davis and a 6-foot-9 LeBron James.
Yet, according to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Lakers aren’t close to making a trade for any of the centers listed above. Based on Stein’s reporting, the Lakers may not be shopping for a center right now.
“League sources stressed over the weekend that the Lakers are not expected to join the hunt for either Vučević or Toronto’s Jakob Poeltl … while oft-suggested Lakers target Walter Kessler of the Utah Jazz is believed to as close to unavailable as it gets with less than 10 days to go before the trade deadline on Feb. 6 at 3 PM ET.”

It remains to be seen how active the Lakers will be in trade discussions leading up to the deadline. Yet, sitting in fifth place of the Western Conference, there’s no great sense of urgency to make changes to J.J. Redick’s team, which enters play with a 25-18 record.
