Despite the seismic trade that sent Anthony Davis to Dallas, LeBron James intends to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.
Speculation had arisen regarding James’s future with the team following the blockbuster trade, which saw the Lakers acquire Luka Dončić. However, James, who possesses a full no-trade clause, has made it clear that he will honor his commitment to the Lakers for the remainder of the season.

Haynes also reports that the Lakers were “very appreciative of the professionalism displayed by Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul” throughout the trade process. Notably, Paul, who also represents Davis, was reportedly informed about the trade prior to James.

James, the oldest player in the NBA, continues to defy expectations, averaging 24.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game while shooting .513/.379/.767 in 44 games this season. He recently extended his own NBA record by being named an All-Star for a record 21st consecutive time.
James, who re-signed with the Lakers on a one-plus-one deal last offseason, holds a $52.6 million player option for the 2025-26 season.
James helped guide the Lakers to a road victory in New York on Saturday without Davis on the court by posting a 33-point triple-double. He extended his own NBA record last month when he was named an All-Star for the 21st straight time.
