Los Angeles Dodgers Insider Reveals Why Team Might Be Able To Sign Juan Soto

Hey Dodgers Nation, are you sick of hearing about Juan Soto yet? Well, things are just heating up with the Superstar taking visits with clubs around Major League Baseball, including the Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN, and Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Juan Soto will be meeting with the Dodgers today (tweet below is from yesterday).

Soto is looking for a “historic” contract, and his super-agent, Scott Boras, will more than likely deliver. There are reports that the New York Mets have already offered Soto $660 million.

The Dodgers just signed Shohei Ohtani to the most lucrative MLB contract ever last offseason to the tune of $700. However, both parties were creative with Ohtani’s contract, and nearly all of the money was deferred to the end of his deal, leaving the Dodgers with more cash in their pockets to land another baseball whale.

  • Juan Soto stats (2024): 288 AVG, .419 OBP, .569 SLG, 41 HR, 109 RBI, 128 R

Aside from the money needed, Gonzalez makes a solid point on the validity of Soto coming to LA actually possible.

When you think about the success that Ohtani had on the field, the records broken, and the World Series won, the massive investment was well worth it. But then you think about all that Ohtani brought off the field (an entire nation became new Dodgers fans), and the ROI was a resounding success.

Also, with Mookie Betts moving to the infield, most likely at shortstop, the Dodgers are actually in need of an outfielder.

Can you imagine a batting order of Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Juan Soto, and Freddie Freeman batting cleanup?

Buckle up Dodgers fans.
