MLB free agency is underway, but like usual, the biggest dominoes have yet to fall. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Dodgers are moving forward with their offseason plan, pursuing some of the best players in free agency, like Juan Soto and, eventually, Roki Sasaki.
Yet, there are several other intriguing options available too, including a former Cy Young winner.

Los Angeles Dodgers emerging as a Corbin Burnes frontrunner
The Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitchers performed admirably as a staff last season, ranking sixth in the National League in earned runs allowed. But they also allowed the second-most home runs.
While Shohei Ohtani is expected to join the starting rotation in 2025, the Dodgers are still seeking other ways to improve their pitching staff, which could include the top arm in free agency.
According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, the Dodgers are one of two teams (along with the Orioles) who “stand above the others” to sign Baltimore’s Corbin Burnes.

Burnes is a 30-year-old former Cy Young winner with four All-Star appearances to his name. He holds a 3.19 ERA across seven years, six of which were in Milwaukee before being traded to Baltimore ahead of the 2023 season.
Boasting a mix of six pitches, Burnes’ ability to keep hitters guessing while allowing an average of one home run per nine innings helps make him one of MLB’s best pitchers.
