Los Angeles Dodgers Trade Discussions for Ace Pitcher Could Resume Soon

So, the Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series, their eighth in franchise history. Naturally, with Shohei Ohtani aboard, there’s no great sense of urgency to overhaul the Dodgers’ roster, especially since the baseball phenom is expected to return to the pitching mound in 2025.

Yet, even though the Dodgers won, fans saw just how slim the margin of error is, so it never hurts to reinforce the roster. The good news is that the Dodgers never shy away from aggressively targeting roster upgrades, no matter what the price is. That could even involve a blockbuster Dodgers trade this winter.

MLB insider ignites Garrett Crochet Los Angeles Dodgers trade rumors

Last year, long before the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in the World Series, the team was linked to a trade for Garrett Crochet. A deal never materialized, as the Chicago White Sox held onto their young pitcher enjoying a career year.

Yet, one of the biggest concerns involving a Crochet trade was the fact that he was coming off Tommy John surgery and was already up to a career-high in innings pitched. Teams feared that he’d either break down, or have to have a significant inning reduction over the second half of the season. Plus, Crochet even reportedly threatened to withhold from the postseason unless he signed a new contract.

The White Sox may reconsider trading one of their most valuable assets without all those hurdles to overcome. If so, expect the Dodgers to get involved again.

“White Sox star Garrett Crochet is available again. The Dodgers and Padres were among teams to make bids last summer for Crochet, but the innings issue hindered them from getting the right value and they should do better now, even with only two years before free agency.”

New York Post’s Jon Heyman on Los Angeles Dodgers/Garrett Crochet

As Heyman noted, Crochet will still be cost-controlled for another two seasons. This gives the Dodgers a great chance to evaluate his value before signing him to a massive contract. Plus, he’d provide yet another power arm that can strike out the game’s best batters.

Depending on the cost, there’s no reason the Dodgers shouldn’t pursue a Crochet trade again. But if not, there are plenty of other options available.
