Former Los Angeles Dodgers Pitcher Trevor Bauer Wins Prestigious Award

A former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher who was accused of sexual assault has won an award in the Mexican Baseball League.

Trevor Bauer, who signed a three-year, $102 million contract ahead of the 2021 MLB season, was just named the pitcher of the year in the Mexican league.

Pitching for the Diablos Rojos, Bauer went 10-0 with a 2.48 ERA and 120 strikeouts in 83 1/3 innings.

Bauer, who won the NL Cy Young award in 2020 during the COVID-shortened season, served a 194-game suspension for violating MLB’s domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse policy. He only pitched 17 games for the Dodgers.

In 2021, a San Diego woman accused Bauer of sexually assaulting her during two encounters that spring. The Dodgers placed Bauer on administrative leave after the accusations were made public in July. The Dodgers ended up releasing Bauer in 2023.

Bauer was never criminally charged. He and the accuser settled their civil lawsuits against each other out of court, ESPN previously reported.

Bauer has been trying to make his way back to the big leagues but to no avail. It’s hard to see any team bringing Bauer into their clubhouse with his past.

During his ten-year MLB career, Bauer went 83-69 and struck out 1,416 in 1,297 2/3 innings. He was selected to the All-Star team once.

Bauer pitched in Japan last year.
