The Los Angeles Dodgers have had a historic offseason, adding several big pieces in every way imaginable. From Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki to Teoscar Hernandez and Hyeseong Kim, the franchise has built a juggernaut, already favored to win the World Series.
But every team has its weaknesses and according to The Athletic, one anonymous Major League Baseball executive believes they know what that will be for the Dodgers.
Will The Defense Be The Los Angeles Dodgers Undoing?

“The executive, granted anonymity for his candor, sees it like this: Teoscar Hernández and Michael Conforto lack range in the outfield corners. Center fielder Tommy Edman is a better infielder than outfielder,” The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported.
The anonymous rival continued by questioning the Dodgers’ infield defense. “Freddie Freeman remains solid at first. Hyeseong Kim figures to be at least as good as Gavin Lux was at second. Max Muncy, when healthy, is fine at third. But shortstop hinges on how much Mookie Betts improves after a full offseason and spring training trying to master the position. Freeman is 35, Muncy 34, Betts 32.”
The Dodgers boast a formidable pitching staff with a rotation featuring four potential ace-level pitchers: Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and newcomer Sasaki. Shohei Ohtani will join the rotation in May. This depth will provide a buffer if the defense is indeed Swiss cheese. The Dodgers recognize they must rely on strikeouts to generate outs in the coming season.

“Obviously big stuff and being hard to hit and striking guys out are good things to add into a group,” general manager Brandon Gomes told reporters.
While the Dodgers have made significant additions to their roster this offseason, the free agent market remains active, and the team may still explore further opportunities to strengthen their defense.
One notable free agent still available is utility player Kike Hernandez, who played a crucial role in the team’s World Series success in previous seasons. However, incorporating Hernandez into the current roster could present challenges, as the team may lack the necessary roster flexibility to accommodate his playing time.
