Los Angeles Chargers Set To Face Steelers Backup QB In Week 3

It looks like the Russell Wilson era in Pittsburgh will have to wait another week as backup QB Justin Fields is in line to start against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3.

Justin Fields In Line To Start Against Los Angeles Chargers

Fields has started each game of the season thus far for the Steelers and has led the team to an undefeated start. While he has not turned the ball over through the air, it would be factual to state that the Steelers 2-0 start is more thanks to dominant defensive play as opposed to that of Fields.

Through the two games, Fields has thrown for 273 yards and has one touchdown. The defense has allowed 10 and 6 points against the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos, respectively.

While the Steelers offense has not exactly exploded, the Chargers defense will face the most athletic and dynamic QB that they have seen all year in Fields.

He can extend plays on the ground, as he has proven throughout his career, and does have 84 yards rushing through two games.

The Chargers defensive line, which has been dominant so far this season, will be tasked with keeping Fields in the pocket and forcing him to beat them with his arm.

If they can force third and long situations, they will be in a really good spot to get off the field, as has certainly been the case against the Raiders and Panthers.

Per PFF, the Chargers are allowing the lowest 3rd down conversion rate.

Get Justin Fields to 3rd Down, and this defense will have a really solid day at the office, again.
