Daniel Popper of The Athletic reported that four Los Angeles Chargers players who have missed, at least, the last two practices have returned to the practice field for the team’s final practice ahead of their game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
The game status for these players has yet to be determined, but getting back to the practice field is a sign that progress has been made on the road to recovery.
Chargers Get Boost As 4 Key Players Return to Practice

Fortunately, several of these players are pass catchers. Ladd McConkey, who hasn’t practiced this week, but was limited versus the Arizona Cardinals, will rejoin the team. Quentin Johnston will practice today for the first time since before the Denver Broncos game. Will Dissly will also practice after dealing with a shoulder injury for the past two weeks was also seen on the practice field.
These three represent the top three targeted receivers for the season. They have caught 55 percent of the passes and 52.3 percent of the yards and have caught all but one of the receiving touchdowns this year.
Of the three only Dissly was able to play last week. Fellow tight end Hayden Hurst also returned to practice on Thursday. He missed the Cardinals game due to a groin injury and missed much of the Broncos game for the same reason.
The Chargers defense will also get a significant boost if Denzel Perryman can return to play. The inside linebacker made his first appearance in the week’s practice. Perryman trails just Daiyan Henley in total tackles, 39 to 43, but has played 84 fewer snaps than Henley.
The Saints officially rule WR Chris Olave and RB/TE Taysom Hill IN for the Chargers game. QB Derek Carr is listed as doubtful with an oblique injury.
