2025 Los Angeles Chargers Draft Targets: Ranking The Top 5 Chargers Position Needs

With the NFL draft rapidly approaching, the Los Angeles Chargers are set to look deeply into their roster to see where their strengths and weaknesses are heading into the 2025 offseason. With multiple Bolts heading into Free Agency, there are many needs that the Chargers must address in the offseason through Free Agency and the Draft. Here are 5 positions the Chargers need to address in either Free Agency or the NFL Draft.

Top 5 Los Angeles Chargers Position Needs

Chargers Draft Priority Number One: Wide Reciever/Tight End

Ladd McConkey was a homerun draft pick for the Chargers last season. Could the Chargers do it again? Many pass catchers are entering Free Agency for the Bolts including Joshua Palmer, DJ Chark, Jalen Reager, Simi Fehoko, and Hayden Hurst. With the dominance of Travis Kelce and Brock Bowers this past season, it would be beneficial for the Chargers to attempt to find a dominant Tight End who could open up the offense even further. Regardless of where they come from, the Bolts need more offensive firepower.

Chargers Draft Priority Number Two: Running Back

There is a high potential that JK Dobbins could leave LA in Free Agency this offseason. Without Dobbins, there isn’t much of a running back room. The NFL Draft has several options when it comes to explosive running backs who could dominate the ground game in this league. The main priority however is to get Dobbins back on this team.

Chargers Draft Priority Number Three: Linebacker

The linebacker core of the Chargers is arguably one of the weakest position groups for the team. Potentially losing four linebackers to Free Agency leaves the Bolts in an even bigger hole than they were in this past season. There are many Free Agents that the Chargers could pursue to help Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa out when facing top-tier AFC offenses. Filling in holes in the later rounds of the Draft to create more depth at the linebacker position.

Finding Joe Alt was one of the biggest blessings of last season. Still, the middle of the offensive line could use a blessing heading into the offseason. The Chargers are potentially losing starting center Bradley Bozeman as well as other backup offensive linemen Brenden Jaimes, Sam Mustipher, and Foster Sarell to Free Agency. Finding depth at the offensive line is a key point of attack this offseason.

Chargers Draft Priority Number Five: Defensive Back

The LA Chargers have the potential to lose six members of their secondary to Free Agency. This includes difference makers like Elijah Molden, Marcus Maye, and Kristian Fulton. Finding depth in your secondary to back up Derwin Jones in a division where you play Patrick Mahomes twice a year is essential. The Draft is filled to the brim with defensive backs that could make an impact.
