While it was a disappointing 2024 season, the 6-6 USC Trojans will be playing one more game before they officially head into the offseason.
After National Signing Day yielded two 5-star recruits in QB Husan Longstreet and DL Jahkeem Stewart, there is a buzz around the program.
We will have plenty of coverage on this recruiting class, and also Lincoln Riley’s search for a new LB coach now that Matt Entz has accepted the Fresno State head coaching job, but for now, it is bowl season!
Brett McMurphy of The Action Network just updated his Bowl Projections and has the USC Trojans playing an intriguing opponent in a familiar environment.
USC Trojans Projected To Play In The Las Vegas Bowl
The Bowl Game tie-ins are a little bit different this year with the conference realignment so many of the Bowls that featured a PAC12 team are now dispersed among the Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC. But based on the projections, most of the West Coast teams will play in historically PAC12 Bowl games.
This rings true for USC as McMurphy is projecting them to play in the Las Vegas Bowl on December 27.
Typically the Las Vegas Bowl featured a PAC12 team and a Big Ten team, but to avoid two conference teams playing, this year it looks like it will be a Big Ten team and an SEC team.
The last time that the USC Trojans played an SEC team in Vegas they beat LSU to open up the year and the sentiment around the program was sky high. Can they end their season like they started it?

McMurphy has them drawing a tough opponent in Texas A&M.
These two historic programs have only played each other 3 times, with USC leading the series 2-1. The last time they played was all the way back in 1977, and the Trojans were victorious 47-28.
While there is not much playing history between these teams, there is a bit of a recent rivalry on the recruiting trail.
SC was able to flip 5-star QB Husan Longstreet from the Aggies, and A&M returned the favor by flipping 5-star WR Jerome Myles from SC.
This game is not locked in yet, but it would be a fun one and an easy one for the Trojan faithful to make the trek out to support.
We will have all the updates as the Bowl schedules are finalized.
