USC football entered the 2024 offseason with several glaring needs. Wide receiver was one of them after they lost pass catchers to the NFL draft and to the transfer portal. Charles Ross will now be the 4th receiver added to the roster since, joining Jaden Richardson, Kyle Ford, and Jay Fair to transfer to the Trojans.
On Saturday Ross alerted WeAreSC that he met with USC on an official visit on Friday and verbally committed to the Trojans. On Tuesday, Ross announced his commitment publically.
USC Football Adds Another WR Transfer
The Culver City native has spent the last three seasons for the San Jose Spartans and decided to find a new locale for his final year of eligibility.
The 6’1″ 170-pounder caught 26 passes for 347 yards in Brent Brennan’s pass-happy offense. Ross’s best game of the season came against USC. He caught five passes for 62 yards
“All the coaches from USC showed me that they don’t just care about the business side about football, they care about you as a man too’” Ross told WeAreSC. “Coach Dennis (Simmons) definitely will improve my game and the proof is in the pudding. Coach Riley will definitely put me in positions to win to the best of my ability. They both played a huge part of my commitment because they both will take my game to highest ceiling there is.”
USC Football head coach Lincoln Riley spoke after the recent spring game about building the wide receiver room based on how their quarterback room now plays,
“…the quarterback position is probably going to be played a little bit differently. I know we talked a lot about it after the bowl game. It’s a little bit more traditional. And I think at times it can be a good thing for some of these receivers in terms of getting in a rhythm and just letting these guys make plays.”
