USC Football: Best Transfer Target After Harmon Miss? Top DL Names Trojans Among Final Schools

USC football’s search for interior defensive linemen continues after missing out on the biggest fish in the transfer portal pond, Derrick Harmon. But good news arrived on the dawn of a new week in the form of Grand Valley State defensive tackle Jay’viar Suggs. On Tuesday he released his top 6 preferred transfer destinations via Instagram. Along with the Trojans, Michigan, Wisconsin, Florida State, Arkansas, and Kentucky were all in the mix.

Jay’viar Suggs Visited USC Football Before Announcing Finalists

Prior to announcing the schools, Suggs visited LA and the USC campus and facilities. He included a short video from a high-rise apartment in downtown Los Angeles.

Head Coach Lincoln Riley made it clear earlier in the offseason that the interior defensive line is a priority.

“An interior defensive lineman is probably the biggest need,” Riley said. “God didn’t make many of those guys. That’s the most immediate need for us.”

To aid this effort, USC hired one of the NFL’s best defensive line coaches, Eric Henderson. Henderson has also emerged as one of the best recruiters in all of NCAA football.

Suggs has logged 42 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, 8.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, and nine passes defended in 22 games over the last two seasons.
