Not even a full week ago, it seemed all but official that former Kansas State QB Will Howard was going to transfer to the USC, and would take over as the USC Trojans starting QB in 2024. Miller Moss was set to lead the Men of Troy against Louisville in the Holiday Bowl, but the thought by most was that he would return in 2024 as the backup to whichever quarterback transferred in.
Well, after an unbelievable performance in the Holiday Bowl, to the tune of 372 yards and SIX touchdown passes (a Holiday Bowl record and USC Trojans bowl game record), we have a true quarterback debate on our hands.
Miller Moss Or Will Howard? Vote Below
When asked about his QB and about the starting position in 2024, Lincoln Riley responded, “Shoot, he may have scared off anybody that would want to come here anyway.”
Regardless, the Trojans will still need to add a QB, or two, to the roster, but if they feel confident in Moss moving forward, it may not be a high-profile one like Howard.
It’d be hard to imagine Howard going anywhere that he would have to compete for the starting job, let alone, have the risk of being the backup in his final year of eligibility. It is also hard to imagine USC deciding to pay top dollar in NIL for a QB who very well may end up being the backup and then leaving after one year.
As of 12/29, 247Sports is still predicting that Howard will commit to USC, but the rumors are intensifying that he will end up at Ohio State. After Moss’s Holiday Bowl performance, how he galvanized the team, and how his teammates and coaches rallied around him, I am beginning to sway that way as well.
What do you think? Who will be the USC Trojans 2024 Quarterback?
