Trey McNutt, the 22nd nationally ranked player, has announced he will visit USC football in an official capacity during what is shaping up to be a huge recruiting weekend for the Trojans, from May 31st to June 2nd.
The Shaker Heights, Ohio native has long been linked to in-state powerhouse, Ohio State. On3 currently gives USC a five percent chance of earning his commitment, 2nd highest odds behind only the Buckeyes, 77 percent. But McNutt is keeping an open mind toward SC.
“I like the new staff. I see what they’re building. It’s just good. So I’m going to go out there and check them out and take them seriously.”
USC has completely overhauled its defensive coaching staff after what was a historically bad 2023 defense. Adding former Houston defensive coordinator, Doug Belk, as secondary coach was a big part of the shift.
McNutt Impressed With What He’s Seen From USC Football
“I’m tight with the staff already, I’ve seen the campus, so really it’s just talking more football, having a good time, talking to players more, getting to know the players a little bit more and really just seeing if I really feel like that’s home.”
USC football extended a scholarship offer to the 6′ 185 lbs junior just over a year ago and according to McNutt, the school has been consistently building a relationship with him and making him feel as though he is a priority. He calls that the ‘main thing.’
