Clinton McDonald Ready To Go Heading Into Training Camp

Entering his 9th season, defensive tackle. Clinton McDonald is ready to go heading in to training camp. After, signing a veteran 2-year $2 million deal in March McDonald was experiencing some medical issues. This past offseason he was fighting a bacterial infection that originated from his 2015 shoulder surgery.

He said Monday he now feels “100 percent” and ready to contribute to Denver’s defensive line. Per DenverBroncos.com

If this is true, McDonald is a 6-foot-2, 297 pound player that will no doubt add depth on the D-line if he is 100%. Let’s not forget he was a part of that defense in Seattle that upset the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. McDonald hasn’t completed a full season since his 2015 shoulder ending surgery season. Bronco’s are hopeful that he will be a veteran presence on the line with a load of rookies around him.

“I’ve actually got to get on the field and contribute to understand what’s going on out there,” McDonald said. “Especially [because] it’s not just you out there on the field. [In] basketball, it’s LeBron James and four other guys. It’s not like that in football at all. Football takes all 11 guys to complete your goal and get to where you want to be.”

Replacing The Defensive Line Hole

McDonald is likely to see a lot of opportunity considering opponents will be likely trying to target the bigger names such as Von Miller or rookie Bradley Chubb. Ever since Aqib Talib left, Denver has been looking to fill that hole he created when he was traded. The last two seasons, McDonald put up 8.5 sacks on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while starting in only 15 games. With him feeling 100%, expect a larger contribution from the veteran.
