After missing games for the first time in his NFL career in 2024, Maxx Crosby is officially back—and ready to dominate.
The Las Vegas Raiders’ All-Pro edge rusher underwent ankle surgery in December, ending his season prematurely. But after five straight years of perfect attendance and elite production, Crosby wasn’t content to let the injury derail his momentum.
“The rehab literally started in December,” Crosby told NFL.com. “I literally didn’t have an offseason. I’ve been here the whole time. It’s been five months of hardcore training and rehabbing every single day, and sacrificing even more to see how I can go to an even higher level.”

That relentless recovery effort has paid off. According to The Athletic’s Tashan Reed, Crosby has resumed his normal summer routine and was a full participant in spring workouts. Crosby confirmed he’s now “100% healthy” and has had an “incredible offseason so far”—a massive boost for a Raiders defense entering a new era.
New head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek are leading a franchise overhaul, but Crosby remains the anchor. The four-time Pro Bowler signed a fresh extension in March that briefly made him the NFL’s highest-paid non-quarterback ($35.5M AAV), signaling the new regime’s confidence in him.
“It’s not about what I’ve done, it’s about what I’m about to do,” Crosby said via The Athletic.
Crosby, 27, will be leaned on heavily in 2025. While Malcolm Koonce and Tyree Wilson are expected to contribute, it’s Crosby’s motor, production, and leadership that fuel this defense. With 59.5 sacks and 105 tackles for loss in his career, a healthy Crosby will be key if the Raiders hope to make a playoff push in the loaded AFC.
