With NFL players officially eligible to compete in flag football at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, the conversation around ideal rosters is already heating up. FOX Sports’ Greg Auman recently offered his take, assembling a dream Olympic flag football team that includes an intriguing name to play ‘center’: Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers.
The format of Olympic flag football is far from traditional. It’s 5-on-5, featuring one quarterback, three receivers or backs, and a center — who is immediately eligible as a receiver. No offensive line, no blocking, and only one designated pass rusher on defense. That means versatility, quickness, and two-way potential matter more than pure size or specialization.
Las Vegas Raiders’ Brock Bowers: Ideal Olympic Flag Football Center Candidate

Bowers, listed at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, fits the mold perfectly. As Auman notes, “Snapping is fairly easy, so do you just want a fourth open-field target?” In this role, the center becomes a hybrid — part snapper, part weapon. Bowers’ rare combination of size, speed, and agility would give the U.S. team a big-bodied target with an elite catch radius, especially in the red zone. His ability to stretch the field vertically while also being physical after the catch makes him an ideal mismatch in the 5-on-5 format.
In the 2025 Pro Bowl flag football game, Brock Bowers led all players in targets with 8, and finished with a co-game-high 6 receptions and 71 receiving yards.
With the NFL embracing the global stage, players like Bowers could help redefine how American football translates to the international scene. If his rapid rise with the Raiders is any indication, Bowers may not only make the roster — he could dominate the Olympic stage in 2028.
