Las Vegas Raiders Kicker Is A Shockingly Tough Negotiator, According To New Teammate

The Las Vegas Raiders appear to have solved their running back dilemma by drafting Ashton Jeanty sixth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. Jeanty, a dynamic talent out of Boise State, is set to be the team’s workhorse, joining veteran Raheem Mostert and rising star Sincere McCormick. This group marks a significant upgrade from last year’s underwhelming tandem of Zamir White and Alexander Mattison.

Las Vegas Raiders Ashton Jeanty Paid High Price For No. 2

Jeanty, famously known as “Deuce” for wearing No. 2 at Boise State, faced a common NFL jersey hurdle when All-Pro kicker Daniel Carlson already claimed that number in Las Vegas. As is tradition, Jeanty negotiated a deal to acquire his cherished No. 2—one that reportedly cost him a “nice-sized house” or “a Mercedes GLE,” though the exact price remains undisclosed. The Raiders’ equipment manager facilitated the process, and Jeanty confirmed on the Up & Adams Show that part of the payment will go to charity.

The number holds deep personal significance for Jeanty: “It’s the day greatness was born, the day I was born, December 2nd. It’s a family number. All my family members who played sports wore No. 2,” he explained.

Jeanty’s college resume is outstanding. In 2023, he rushed for 1,347 yards with 14 touchdowns and added 46 receptions for 569 yards. His 2024 season was historic—leading FBS in touches (397) and rushing yards (2,601), tallying 30 total touchdowns, finishing second in Heisman voting, and winning the Maxwell Award. Boise State went 11-1 and made the College Football Playoff before falling to Penn State.

Now, Jeanty joins a Raiders team that traded for quarterback Geno Smith and aims to compete in the AFC West. With Jeanty securing his beloved No. 2 and a lucrative four-year, $35.9 million contract, Las Vegas fans have every reason to be excited about the new era in their backfield.
