Forget Ramsey, Analyst Offers Los Angeles Rams A Cornerback Steal

Bleacher Report recently identified Trevon Diggs as a trade candidate in need of a restart, and few landing spots make more sense than the Los Angeles Rams. L.A.’s cornerback room remains thin heading into the 2025 season, with the team returning much of last year’s inconsistent group. While the Rams have been linked to a possible reunion with Jalen Ramsey, acquiring Diggs could offer a younger, high-upside alternative at a lower cost.

Diggs, 26, is coming off two straight seasons cut short by ACL injuries, appearing in just 13 total games since 2022. Still, his ceiling remains elite when healthy. A 2021 first-team All-Pro, Diggs led the NFL with 11 interceptions that year and remains one of the most dynamic ballhawks in football.

Why a Trevon Diggs Trade Makes Sense for the Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys signed him to a five-year, $97 million extension in 2023, but with four years still remaining, Dallas may now be looking to reset. Trading Diggs post-June 1 would save the Cowboys over $9.6 million in cap space, per Over The Cap, providing flexibility for looming extensions for DaRon Bland and Micah Parsons.

From the Rams’ side, a sixth-round pick in 2026 could be enough to land Diggs—a bargain for a team that finished 26th in passing yards allowed last season. The team didn’t add a cornerback in the draft or in free agency this year, so Los Angeles needs playmakers in the secondary more than ever. Diggs’ aggressive style and nose for turnovers would immediately elevate a young defense.

Bleacher Report put it plainly: “Both cornerback Trevon Diggs and the Dallas Cowboys may be better off without each other.” If so, the Rams are a logical next chapter for a player still capable of changing games—and maybe even seasons—when healthy.
