Los Angeles Rams DB Reveals His Top 2 Matthew Stafford Nicknames

If safety Quentin Lake had a vote, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford would be a lock for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, Lake didn’t hesitate when asked if the veteran quarterback belongs in Canton: “One hundred percent. [He’s] easily a Hall of Famer.” Lake, entering his fourth year with LA, sees Stafford’s greatness every day and even dropped a few nicknames that teammates use to describe the QB’s unique skill set.

“There’s a nickname that makes a lot of sense — ‘Mr. Long Handoffs,’ because his deep throws are just routine,” Lake said. “And ‘Mr. No-Look,’ because he manipulates defenders with his eyes like no one else. It’s normal for him.”

Lake praised Stafford’s all-around legacy — both on and off the field — and said he has “no doubt” the 16-year veteran will one day don a gold jacket. “He’s got a Super Bowl, a fantastic career, great father, great teammate. In my mind, no doubt about it.”

Stafford, 36, enters his 17th NFL season coming off a 10-7 campaign in which the Rams reached the Divisional Round. He threw for 3,762 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2023, including 325 yards and two scores in the playoff loss to the eventual champion Eagles.

While his recent numbers haven’t matched his 2021 Super Bowl-winning season (4,886 yards, 41 TDs), Stafford’s body of work — including over 56,000 career passing yards — keeps him firmly in the Hall of Fame conversation.
