As the Los Angeles Rams look to round out their 2025 roster, one intriguing trade target comes from an idea floated by Clutch Points: Green Bay Packers linebacker Quay Walker. While his time in Green Bay has been inconsistent, a change of scenery could unlock the upside that made him a first-round pick in 2022.
Walker’s raw stats suggest potential. In just 13 games last season, he recorded 102 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two pass deflections—leading the Packers in total tackles and ranking 29th across the NFL. However, a Pro Football Focus grade of 54.6 tells a different story, highlighting inconsistency in coverage and assignment discipline.
Could Quay Walker Be the Los Angeles Rams’ Defensive X-Factor in 2025?

That mix of production and potential is exactly why Clutch Points proposed the Rams as an ideal landing spot. Los Angeles is searching for a sideline-to-sideline linebacker to energize a defense adjusting to life without Ernest Jones. Walker’s athleticism and playmaking ability could be maximized under Chris Shula’s scheme, particularly with a slightly altered role tailored to his strengths.
The Rams re-signed Troy Reeder, who was a starter in 2024 before getting hurt. They opted not to re-sign Christian Rozeboom, who played the most at the position for the team. They drafted the undersized Ole Miss linebacker, Chris Paul, who will compete with Reeder and 2024 undrafted free agent standout Omar Speights.
Given that Green Bay may be reluctant to offer Walker a long-term extension, he could be available for a mid-round pick—a reasonable price for a high-ceiling player. The Rams, who are no strangers to finding value in underutilized talent, would be wise to consider the move.
If Los Angeles can provide the right environment, Walker could become more than just a reclamation project. He could be a key piece in the Rams’ defensive rebuild—and perhaps, as Clutch Points suggests, a perfect fit waiting to happen.
