The Los Angeles Rams continue to explore ways to strengthen their roster following an aggressive offseason that included the high-profile addition of Davante Adams. Yet, one glaring need remains: upgrading the secondary. With starting cornerbacks Darious Williams and Ahkello Witherspoon projected to lead the outside, the Rams are still searching for a difference-maker in the defensive backfield.
Enter Jaire Alexander.
The Los Angeles Rams Have Not YET Addressed Cornerback Issues

The two-time Pro Bowler and former Packers first-round pick was released after Green Bay failed to find a trade partner. Despite durability concerns—he’s played just 34 of 68 games since 2021—Alexander is only 28 and, when healthy, remains one of the league’s premier cover corners. Over seven seasons in Green Bay, he totaled 287 tackles, 12 interceptions, and 12 tackles for loss.
Alexander was set to make over $16 million in 2025 and count $24.6 million against the Packers’ cap. By releasing him post-June 1, Green Bay saves over $17 million, opening the door for teams like the Rams to capitalize.
Los Angeles hasn’t addressed cornerback in free agency or the draft, and last year’s starters—Williams, Witherspoon, and Cobie Durant—posted underwhelming coverage grades (none above 62.0 per PFF). The Rams are always interested in star-caliber players, and Alexander fits the mold of a savvy veteran who could immediately elevate Chris Shula’s defense.
While the Rams have long been rumored as a destination for Jalen Ramsey should the Dolphins move on, Alexander presents a realistic, cost-effective alternative. He brings versatility, physicality, and pedigree—attributes Los Angeles has prioritized in past acquisitions.
Should the Rams choose to make a move, Alexander would be a smart addition to a team quietly preparing to contend again in 2025. Even as a short-term solution, his upside makes this a low-risk, high-reward proposition the Rams shouldn’t pass up.
