Los Angeles Rams Newly Signed OL Depth Piece May Now Be Future Starter

Yesterday, the Los Angeles Rams signed veteran offensive tackle D.J. Humphries. The move was seen as a nice addition to the room as a veteran depth piece.

Unfortunately, recent news has been disclosed that revealed the reason for the signing.

Los Angeles Rams Sign D.J. Humphries Due To Alaric Jackson’s Health

Starting left tackle Alaric Jackson is once again dealing with blood clots, similar to the situation he dealt with in 2022. The hope is that he will still be able to play during the 2025 season, but this is obviously a very serious situation, and his health is much more important.

Jackson missed most of the 2022 season dealing with blood clots, but was able to come back from it and become the Los Angeles Rams’ full-time starter at left tackle in 2023.

After a successful and healthy 2024 season, Jackson was rewarded with a shiny contract extension worth $56,300,000 over 3 years.

Humphries is a 9-year veteran who has played almost the entirety of his career with the Arizona Cardinals. He has been invited to the Pro Bowl once in 2021. Last season, he appeared in just two games for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Rams also recently signed veteran David Quessenberry, who has a good amount of starting experience at tackle, most recently with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Rams had a ton of injury issues with the offensive line last season, but it was a position that they chose not to address during the offseason. This is not an ideal start for a unit that will be integral in the team’s Super Bowl aspirations.
