3 Los Angeles Rams Undrafted Free Agent Locks To Make The Roster

The 256 players selected in the NFL Draft are always deemed as more talented, but every year, the Los Angeles Rams find hidden gems that go undrafted.

Last season alone saw several undrafted players have major impacts on the Rams’ 2024 campaign.

Offensive lineman Justin Dedich played valuable reps and started games when seemingly the entire offensive line was down with injury.

Omar Speights became the team’s starting inside linebacker and is viewed that way heading into the 2025 season.

Jaylen McCollough finished last year with 4 interceptions, which was tied for the 10th-most in the entire NFL. Charles Woods also played an impactful role on special teams.

There is bound to be a handful of players this year to not only make the roster but also have meaningful snaps. So who are they?

3 Los Angeles Rams UDFAs Who Are Locks To Make The Roster

Mario Williams, WR, Tulane

Mario Williams is a player with a ton of talent, but he kind of got lost in the wash of college football. He was a highly touted recruit out of high school who originally committed to Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma. When Lincoln Riley and QB Caleb Williams left for USC, he followed them out to Los Angeles.

In his sophomore season, Jordan Addison was the clear No. 1 option in the passing game, relegating Williams to WR2/3. In his two years with the Trojans, he compiled 936 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Ahead of his senior season, he opted to enter the transfer portal again and made his way to Tulane. He had a true breakout season last year, finishing with 1,031 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also had a very solid average of 17.2 yards per reception.

The Los Angeles Rams’ receiving room is probably pretty set 1-4, but the final 2-3 spots are pretty wide open. With his speed, route-running ability, and college experience, Williams is a top UDFA candidate to make the roster and even make an impact.

Willie Lampkin, OL, North Carolina

Willie Lampkin is a player who has received high praise around the league. At 5’11”, 279 pounds, he has a smaller frame, which could hurt him at the next level and is a big reason why he went undrafted.

He primarily played right guard at North Carolina, but has the versatility to play both guard spots as well as center. The Rams love versatile offensive linemen, so this already puts him in a great spot. He finished with an 85.6 overall grade last year, according to PFF.

His size is his greatest weakness, but if he can continue to prove scouts wrong, he will be a quality depth piece for Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams.

Nate Valcarcel, S, Northern Illinois

The Los Angeles Rams absolutely love signing UDFAs in the secondary. Just last year, they signed 3, and all of them got valuable reps, including McCollough, who had 4 interceptions.

Nate Valcaracel may have played at a smaller school in Northern Illinois, but his level of play was good enough for the big stage.

He finished last season with 53 total tackles, 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 8 passes defended, and 3 interceptions. He was an integral part of NIU’s massive upset over Notre Dame, finishing with 5 total tackles and 1 pass defended.

At 6’1″, 192 pounds, he has good size that should translate to the next level. He ran a 4.53 40, so he does not have blazing speed, but he is plenty fast for the safety position.

In terms of the safety position for the Rams, after Kam Curl, Kamren Kinchens, and McCollough, it is pretty wide open for another roster spot.
