Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey took the NFL by storm as a rookie last season. He finished the year with 82 receptions, 1149 yards, and 7 touchdowns.
His yard total was good enough for the 10th most in the entire NFL, and 3rd amongst rookies, behind Brian Thomas and Malik Nabers.
Recently, Josh Norris and Hayden Winks were on their show with Underdog talking about McConkey and how he stacks up with the likes of his fellow rookies. They spoke extremely favorably of him and even said that McConkey might be the best in his class.
Los Angeles Chargers WR Ladd McConkey Gets High Praise

In the 2024 NFL Draft, Malik Nabers was the 2nd wide receiver taken, going 6th overall to the New York Giants. Brian Thomas Jr. was the 4th WR selected, going 23rd to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
McConkey slipped to the top of the 2nd round and was the NINTH WR taken. The Chargers obviously loved what they saw because they traded up in order to select him.
While Nabers and Thomas both had fantastic rookie seasons, both Norris and Winks are buying the McConkey hype.
“He’s one of the best wide receivers in the game,” Winks says.
“I think it’s obvious to see how Nabers and Thomas are special,” Norris says. “But I’m not sure if enough people are lumping Ladd McConkey in that conversation when they really should be.”
“I thought Ladd McConkey was the best of the three,” Winks continues.
We all know how special McConkey is, and he is poised to reach another level in Year 2. The addition of Mike Williams and 2nd round draft pick Tre Harris should only aid in McConkey’s development, springing him to more open opportunities.

“The dude forced 15 missed tackles last year,” Norris continues. “The second most among all of the rookie class, and then on top of that, he won 62% of his contested catches.”
Just across town, we all witnessed Cooper Kupp become the best wide receiver in the NFL from the slot with the Los Angeles Rams. Ladd McConkey has the ability to do the same thing, and he is entering just his 2nd season.
The sky is the limit.
