NFL Analyst Predicts 2025 Season For Justin Herbert With A Bold Caveat

The Los Angeles Chargers had a tremendous bounce-back year in 2024, but Justin Herbert had a bit of a down season, statistically at least.

He finished 9th in the NFL in passing yards with 3,870 yards. He finished 12th in touchdowns with 23 passing TDs.

It’s not as if Herbert fell off a cliff, or played poorly by any stretch of the imagination, but it was quite the drop-off from his 2021 and 2022 campaigns, where the former saw him throw for over 5,000 yards.

A lot of this had to do with the new offensive scheme that OC Greg Roman has implemented which features the run game much more. Herbert also lost most of his weapons and had to rely on Rookie Ladd McConkey to lead all receivers.

A lot will change this offseason. It will be Year 2 for Herbert in the system, and the Chargers *should infuse the wide receiver room and tight end room with more talent.

One NFL analyst thinks this will be enough for Justin Herbert to have a monumental 2025 campaign.

ESPN just put out their 2025 NFL Predictions which features all of their NFL analysts predicting the next Super Bowl matchup, team predictions, and the next MVP.

NFL Analyst Mike Tannenbaum boldly predicts that Justin Herbert will be the league’s next Most Valuable Player.

His reasoning, however, maybe even bolder than the prediction itself. He writes:

“He’ll be in his second season with coach Jim Harbaugh and coordinator Greg Roman. The Chargers will also sign the Bengals’ Tee Higgins and draft Miami’s Elijah Arroyo, giving Herbert two more playmakers for him to boost his MVP case.”

Whew.

This would be a pretty homerun scenario for the Bolts. Nabbing the number one free agent WR on the market and the 4th-ranked tight end in the draft, according to PFF, would certainly give Herbert the weapons he needs to not only push for the MVP but also lead the Chargers to a deep playoff run.

Still just 26 years old, Higgins is coming off of a year where he caught for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns. That production will come at a cost, however, as he is predicted to reset the receiver market and push close to a $30 million average per year.

Historically, the Chargers probably would not shell out this kind of money in free agency, especially for a receiver. Will that change with this new regime?

I’m sure there is one player in the building pushing for it. Justin Herbert.
