The Los Angeles Chargers took a major step in finalizing their 2025 draft class on Monday, officially signing first-round running back Omarion Hampton to his rookie deal. The contract, as reported by FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz, includes a $9.56 million signing bonus and is worth $17.77 million over four years, with a fifth-year team option—standard for all first-round selections.

With Hampton under contract, only one rookie remains unsigned: second-round wide receiver Tre Harris.
While the delay in Harris’ signing has raised some eyebrows, it’s not unusual. Second-round picks have increasingly signed later in the offseason in recent years, largely due to negotiations over contract language and guarantees. Last year’s 55th pick, which is where Harris was drafted didn’t sign his contract until June 11th. He signed a 4 year, $6,911,696 contract with the Miami Dolphins, including $1,846,688 signing bonus, $3,750,856 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $1,727,924. In 2025, Paul will earn a base salary of $1,109,168, while carrying a cap hit of $1,570,840 and a dead cap value of $2,494,184, according to Spotrac.

Despite not being under contract, both Hampton and Harris fully participated in rookie minicamp earlier this month. The two also represented the team at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere photoshoot in partnership with Panini, signaling their engagement with the team’s offseason activities.
The next key dates on the Chargers’ calendar are organized team activities (OTAs) on May 27 and 28, when the full roster, including rookies, is expected to be in attendance.
For now, the early signing of Hampton—sooner than last year’s first-rounder—reflects well on the Chargers’ front office, which continues to build momentum heading into a critical offseason under new head coach Jim Harbaugh. All eyes now turn to Harris as the final piece of the rookie puzzle.
