This Brutal 2025 Stat Already Has Los Angeles Chargers Making NFL History

The Los Angeles Chargers are set to make travel history in 2025. According to an analysis by Bookies.com, the Chargers will log 37,086 miles during the upcoming NFL season—more than any team in league history. That total includes a Week 1 round-trip to Brazil, six games in the Eastern Time Zone, and a staggering 42 time zone crossings, putting them at the top of the NFL’s travel chart and flirting with the limits of jet lag.

Not only is that an NFL record, but it also exceeds the annual travel distance of all but three Major League Baseball teams—a remarkable feat for a sport that plays just 17 regular-season games.

The Chargers’ international opener, a September 5 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs in São Paulo, has been widely reported but will be made official when the full NFL schedule is released Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET. As is tradition, the NFL has slowly rolled out game announcements to its broadcast and streaming partners ahead of the full reveal. Six of the league’s seven international games were announced Tuesday morning, with the Chargers-Chiefs game expected to round out the slate.

In total, six NFL teams will travel more than 24,901 miles—the equivalent of circling the Earth at the equator. Those teams include the Chargers, Rams, Seahawks, 49ers, Falcons, and Colts. Interestingly, both the Seahawks and 49ers will reach that mark without ever leaving the continental U.S., a reflection of the geographic challenges faced by West Coast franchises.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Cincinnati Bengals will travel the least of any NFL team in 2025—just 8,753 miles across 8 time zones. Their longest road trip? A visit to Denver. That total distance is only 23.6% of the miles the Los Angeles will cover.

Bookies.com calculated each team’s total mileage and time zone crossings by examining every road destination, including international games, and measuring the linear distance of round trips.

Altogether, the 32 NFL teams will travel a combined 625,947 miles during the regular season—an average of 19,561 miles per team, and roughly 2,301 miles per road trip.

As the NFL expands its global reach, teams like the Chargers aren’t just chasing wins—they’re logging miles at a historic rate.
