When Jim Harbaugh took over as the Los Angeles Chargers’ head coach, he helped the team improve from a disappointing 5-12 record to an impressive 11-6 record. What could he have in store for Year 2 with Justin Herbert?
General manager Joe Hortiz has done his best to upgrade a roster that snuck into the postseason before getting blasted in a 20-point loss to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round. Now that the Chargers’ schedule has been released, do they project to be any better than last season?
Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton, who also doubles as a Raiders writer, believes the Chargers are in line to tie for the NFL’s best record at a shimmering 13-4 record. Specifically, Moton is buying into the Chargers’ investments in the offensive side of the ball this offseason.
“Harris (6’1″, 232 lbs) and Hampton (6’0″, 220 lbs) will bring brute physicality on the ground behind an offensive line with four former first-rounders. At 6’7”, 363 pounds, Mekhi Becton is the key addition to that unit. Good luck to defenders trying to tackle two bruising ball-carriers running behind him.

By the way, Justin Herbert will reunite with big-play receiver Mike Williams and build a rapport with 6’2″, 205-pound rookie second-round wideout Tre Harris. Look for the Chargers to bully their way to a division title this year.
The Baltimore Ravens are the other team predicted to finish with 13 wins. As for the Chargers, watching them “bully their way to a division title” would be welcome in a division that’s been forced to watch the Kansas City Chiefs finish in first place every year since 2016.
We’ve only seen the Chargers win 13 or more games twice in their 66-year franchise history. The first came in 2006 under Marty Schottenheimer while Philip Rivers, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Antonio Gates led the way with a blistering 14-2 record.
The second time came just three years later in 2009 when Norv Turner’s air raid offense featuring Rivers, Vincent Jackson, and Gates cruised to a 13-win season. In other words, if the 2025 Chargers could sneak away with 13 wins, it would be one of the most successful regular season campaigns in franchise history.
