On the same day Keenan Allen inched closer to a potential reunion with the Los Angeles Chargers, general manager Joe Hortiz couldn’t help but reveal his hand—at least a little.
During an appearance on FanDuel’s Up & Adams, Hortiz fielded a wide range of questions from host Kay Adams, including topics like Justin Herbert, Ladd McConkey, the possibility of new uniforms—and, of course, Keenan Allen.
Los Angeles Chargers GM Talks Keenan Allen

When asked whether the Chargers were done adding to the receiver room after drafting two wideouts in the 2025 NFL Draft, Hortiz gave a telling answer: “We’re never done adding anything.” Adams pressed further, name-dropping both Amari Cooper and Keenan Allen. At the mention of Allen, Hortiz broke into a grin.
That smile, paired with Hortiz’s comments about Allen’s familiarity with Los Angeles, felt like a clear hint: the speculation surrounding a reunion might have more truth to it than previously believed.
Allen has been public about wanting to play only in Chicago or Los Angeles. With the Bears seemingly out of the picture, the Chargers are now the lone remaining option—and the door is wide open. It’s a rare scenario where the team could potentially sign a highly productive veteran on a team-friendly deal, given Allen’s personal preference for the market.
Even after drafting Ladd McConkey and Tre Harris, the logic behind signing Allen is sound. The Chargers already showed their willingness to reunite with one of Justin Herbert’s old weapons by bringing back Mike Williams on a one-year deal. So why not take it a step further?
The delay in signing Allen has likely been driven by compensatory pick considerations and a desire to evaluate the rookie wideouts during minicamp. Still, regardless of how those rookies perform, there is a clear role Allen could step into.
What once seemed like a nostalgic pipe dream for fans may actually be gaining traction behind the scenes. And based on Joe Hortiz’s grin and carefully chosen words, Chargers fans have real reason to believe that Keenan Allen in powder blue might not be finished just yet.
