It still feels too early to be thinking about the 2027 recruiting class with things heating up for the 2026 class, but the USC Trojans are already prioritizing a lot of future prospects, especially close to home.
One of those prospects is Junipero Serra (Gardena, CA) 5-star cornerback Duvay Williams.
The Trojans have made him a major priority, and he is certainly feeling the love.
USC Trojans At The Top For 2027 5-Star CB Duvay Williams
Williams is currently the 2nd-ranked cornerback in the 2027 class, according to On3 Industry Ranking. He is the No. 1 player in the state of California and the 6th-ranked overall player in the nation.
In an interview with On3, he spoke on why the USC Trojans are standing out.
“I was talking to the general manager, Chad Bowden, not too long ago, and he wants me to set it off for USC’s 2027 class. Lincoln Riley is excited about me. They have something in store for me.
USC is always showing me love. A few days ago, Coach Trovon Reed and Coach Eric Henderson came to my practice. They watched my whole practice, showed me support, and talked to me. They’re showing me that I’m still No. 1 on their board. They want me to come up to the school, get their plays, and get developed so I can be ready when I get there.
I like how they do things with their players on and off the field. Education is important to me, and USC is one of the top academic schools in the country… Then, USC is USC. All the legends go there. It’s right in my backyard, so why not?”

Williams has visited USC three times this year, so far, and it looks like that trend will continue.
We are a long, long way from finalizing the 2027 class, but Williams would be the perfect prospect to headline the class. USC’s continued commitment to recruiting California and Los Angeles is paying dividends in the 2026 class, and it will start to demonstrate the same for the 2027 class as that begins to unfold.
USC will have plenty of competition for Williams, including cross-town rival UCLA. However, if they continue their relentless approach of relationship-building, they should have no problem remaining the leader in the clubhouse.
