The USC Trojans currently hold the No. 1 2026 recruiting class. All of the focus is on keeping that class intact until signing day in December, but in today’s college football, you have to continue to look to the future.
This is why Lincoln Riley has begun recruiting for the 2027 class as they look for the next batch of talent.
We have talked about elite 2027 QB Peyton Houston many times on the USC LAFB Show, as he is the QB of his class that Riley has gone all in on. Typically, Riley only offers one QB at a time, and Houston appears to be that guy.
This has obviously carried some weight, as just today, both Steve Wiltfong and Sam Spiegelman of On3/Rivals have put in expert predictions for the USC Trojans to land the commitment of Houston.
USC Trojans Get Crystal Ball To Land Peyton Houston
Once the Trojans moved on from Ryder Lyons, they went all in on Houston, and the young quarterback and his family have taken notice.
Riley and QB Coach Luke Huard officially offered Houston on May 13, and Huard attended his spring game just a week later.
Houston has visited USC twice, most recently on April 19th.
“I always love being back there,” he told Rivals last month. “It’s been a blessing to have the opportunity to have a private workout with Lincoln Riley – that meant a lot to me. It was a blessing for sure.”
Houston is also very close to the most recent USC commit Boobie Feaster.
“Me and Boobie, we’re like cousins,” the young QB told WeAreSC. “We’ve been around each other since we were young, and we have a connection that nobody has ever seen yet. That’s been our goal – to try to play with each other.”

A lot can happen between now and December 2026, but that statement certainly makes the case that Houston will commit to USC to be with Feaster.
“Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong and I have been talking to various sources connected to this recruitment, and the intel favors USC. With that, we’ve logged the first two predictions in favor of the Trojans with the touted 2027 passer from The Boot.”
Peyton Houston: Next Heisman Hopeful?
Houston has received many comps to former Lincoln Riley quarterback Kyler Murray. A lot of this is due to their very similar size, as both QBs are 5’10, and roughly 205 pounds.
While his NFL career has been very up-and-down, Murray was fantastic at Oklahoma with Riley. He won the Heisman Trophy and was the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

Houston has an extremely high ceiling, and he is only going to get better. Going into his Junior (high school) season, he is the 8th-ranked QB in the 2027 class, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He can certainly climb that list over the next two years.
With Husan Longstreet on the roster and Jonas Williams committed in the 2026 class, USC could have top-tier QB play for the next 6-7 years.
