Latest Prediction Has 5-Star Prospect Committing To Oregon Over USC Trojans

The USC Trojans have been the hottest team in all of College Football when it comes to 2026 recruiting, however, sometimes a specific recruit committing can be dependent on what happens with another school.

Yesterday, the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 class, Jared Curtis, committed to Georgia over Oregon. This leaves the Ducks without a QB in the 2026 class after Jonas Williams flipped to USC earlier this year.

It is clear that Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks will need to put all of their resources into one QB prospect, and most of the Top 20 are already committed. They could push to flip someone, but the 4th-ranked quarterback in the cycle, Ryder Lyons, remains uncommitted and will be the target that they recruit the hardest.

Just a few weeks ago, multiple expert predictions were submitted for Lyons to commit to Lincoln Riley and the Trojans. Even with Jonas Williams already on the roster, Lyons will be taking his LDS mission directly after high school for a year, so he will not arrive on campus until 2027.

I still think USC is firmly in the mix, but due to Curtis leaving the Ducks in the cold, the consensus is now for Lyons to end up in Eugene.

5-Star QB Ryder Lyons Predicted To Commit To Oregon Ducks Over USC Trojans

With the highly reported and broadcasted Jared Curtis commitment to Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs over Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks, many in the recruiting industry immediately turned their attention to Lyons.

On3’s recruiting experts, Steve Wiltfong, Pete Nakos, and Justin Hopkins (Oregon insider), have all put in new predictions for Lyons to commit to the Ducks.

Nakos had put in a prediction for USC just a few weeks ago, but that was before Curtis chose Georgia over Oregon.

According to 247 Sports, Lyons currently has three official visits scheduled.

  • USC Trojans – June 6
  • Oregon Ducks – June 13
  • BYU Cougars – June 19

Lincoln Riley will have another opportunity to sway the young signal caller to join his brother Walker in Los Angeles and commit to the USC Trojans.
