The USC Trojans continue their pursuit of having a historical 2026 recruiting class. They currently hold the No. 1 spot, and after a successful recruiting weekend, look to expand their lead.
They have received several commitment predictions over the past week, including QB Ryder Lyons, OL Keenyi Pepe, CB Elbert Hill, and others, but the latest prediction has the Trojans missing out on one of the top local prospects.
5-star Mater Dei tight end, Mark Bowman, is the 2nd-ranked TE in the class, according to On3 Industry Rankings, and has been a priority recruit for the Trojans.
While they still have a viable shot, especially being the hometown team with a ton of momentum, it always felt like Bowman would end up in the SEC, and now he has received 2 recruiting predictions to commit to the Texas Longhorns.
TE Mark Bowman Predicted To Choose Texas Over USC Trojans
Originally the top tight end in the 2027 class, Bowman re-classified to 2026 and is still widely considered one of the best in the class. 247 Sports still ranks him No. 1.
While USC and Oregon have been battling for Bowman’s commitment, and one may still get it, Texas has emerged as the new favorite.
Both Max Torres and Charlie Williams of On3 have put in recruiting predictions with 60% confidence.
Nothing is imminent, but Chad Savage and the rest of the USC Trojans staff will need to put in extra work if they hope to keep the local prospect home.
He has a robust official visit schedule which includes:
- Alabama – May 30
- Texas – June 6
- USC – June 17
- Oregon – June 20
The USC Trojans currently have an astounding 23 commitments in the 2026 class, but no tight ends. Their current room is very young, so it is not a necessity, but adding Bowman would be a huge get, and he has the potential to be a dominant playmaker at the next level.
