Whether it is just smoke or reality, the historic rivalry between the USC Trojans and Notre Dame appears to be hanging on by a thread. The game is scheduled for this season, but after that, both sides need to reach an agreement on an extension to play.
USC has proposed a one-year extension so that it can continue to negotiate a long-term deal. Notre Dame wants a long-term deal done right away.
