The USC Trojans lit the college football world on fire when they landed the commitment of 5-star tight end Mark Bowman.
Throughout much of the process, Bowman was heavily favored to end up at either Texas or Georgia, but since the arrival of Chad Savage and Chad Bowden, USC has been pushing hard and building a great rapport with Bowden, his coaches, and the Southern California pipeline in general.
I spoke about Bowman recently on the USC LAFB Show and compared him to the likes of former Georgia Bulldog and current Raiders All-Pro, Brock Bowers.

Bowman is the No. 1 tight end in the 2026 class, and his talent already has analysts and the Trojan family drooling.

Ryan Roberts spoke on Bowman on their latest episode and why he likens him to Brock Bowers.
“I mean, everything about him is Brock Bowers, Joe. Like the movement skills, the ability to play attached and detached, but like the overall just upside of being a mismatch weapon. I mean, he was originally part of the 2027 class and reclassified to the 2026, and that just speaks to how talented this kid is, because it’s not like he’s playing in a low class of football. He’s playing out at Mater Dei, and playing the likes of St. John Bosco and Servite, and all these great schools each and every week, and he’s a dominant fixture. So you have a 6-foot-4, almost 230-pound tight end who can move around everywhere and is an absolute mismatch weapon against linebackers and safeties.”

Landing Bowman was huge for Lincoln Riley and his USC Trojans staff. While the comp is Brock Bowers, Riley will be able to use Bowman as he used Mark Andrews when he was back at Oklahoma.
The tight end position has not been highly utilized at USC since Riley has been in LA, but it is trending like his time with the Sooners, with current tight ends Lake McRee, Walker Lyons, Joey Olsen, and Walter Matthews on the roster. Bowman can take the mantle in a few years and elevate it to new heights.
