UCLA Bruins continued its strong 2026 recruiting push this week, landing a commitment from three-star safety Logan Hirou, a standout from Santa Margarita Catholic High School. At 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Hirou adds toughness and versatility to a Bruins secondary in need of both.
Hirou, ranked as the No. 93 safety in the country by the On3 Industry Comparison and the No. 92 overall prospect in California, had received offers from Utah, Cal, Arizona, and Washington State, as well as several Ivy League schools. He had previously visited Utah and Cal, but canceled an upcoming official visit to Princeton following his UCLA commitment.
UCLA Bruins Land Physical, Versatile Safety Logan Hirou in 2026 Class

“I saw a lot of good things,” Hirou told Rivals after an unofficial visit to spring camp. “I saw a lot of stuff that I play at my high school, which is good, and I think will translate if I come here to UCLA.”
UCLA head coach DeShaun Foster and new secondary coach Demetrice Martin have emphasized toughness and communication on defense. Hirou fits that mold perfectly. In 2023, he racked up 80 total tackles—42 of them solo—while adding three interceptions and seven pass breakups. He also earned First Team All-Trinity League honors.

“He’s a talented safety prospect and one of the most physical players out West,” 247Sports national analyst Greg Biggins said. “You can play him in any situation… He’s an every-down safety with a high football IQ.”
While UCLA has leaned on the transfer portal for secondary help in recent years, the commitment from Hirou reflects a reemphasis on high school recruiting. He’s expected to contribute by his second or third year, with the ability to play both in coverage and near the line of scrimmage. It’s a meaningful in-state win as the Bruins reshape their identity under Foster.
