The UCLA Bruins continue to build momentum on the recruiting trail, securing a commitment from Giancarlo Cereghino, the No. 1 long snapper in the 2026 class according to 247Sports. The Moraga (Calif.) Campolindo standout chose UCLA over offers from Alabama, Cal, and others following his official visit to Westwood this past weekend.
“I committed to UCLA because it feels like home,” Cereghino told UCLA Bruins on SI. “The coaches are amazing; they can develop me and mentor me. Coach Foster is building something special, and I definitely want to be a part of it.”

Senior Special Teams Analyst Bailey McElwain played a significant role in Cereghino’s recruitment.
“Coach McElwain showed me lots of love,” he said. “He showed me his coaching techniques, and I know I’ll be developed by the time I leave UCLA with him coaching me.”
Cereghino was previously committed to other visits but confirmed he’s shutting things down.
“I don’t plan to take any more visits. It means a lot to be committed to UCLA. I’m super pumped up for the future and proud to say I’m a Bruin!”
Cereghino has impressed evaluators, including Rubio Long Snapping, where he was described as “one of the most consistent snappers” in the country, with elite athleticism, speed, and confidence.
UCLA’s decision to award scholarships to long snappers in back-to-back classes reflects a cultural shift under head coach DeShaun Foster. After years of relying on walk-ons, the Bruins are now investing in top-tier specialists.
“All glory to God,” Cereghino said after his commitment. “Let’s work!”
