As the Los Angeles Lakers plot their offseason strategy around LeBron James and Luka Dončić, their front office is eyeing potential reinforcements from Portland. According to The Athletic‘s Jovan Buha, the Trail Blazers are placing a high price on forward Toumani Camara and center Robert Williams III, complicating any trade scenarios.
Los Angeles Lakers Trade Targets Include Blazers’ Camara, Williams — But Price Tag Raises Eyebrows
On a recent podcast, Buha addressed a hypothetical Lakers package — Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Maxi Kleber, Dalton Knecht, and a first-round pick — in exchange for Camara. His response was clear: “I’ve heard that the Blazers want two firsts for Camara. So, I think maybe they view Dalton and a first as sufficient, but I think Portland probably says no.”

Camara, 25, had a breakout second season, averaging 11.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 37.5% from three. More than just a statistical standout, Camara has emerged as a two-way asset — holding opponents to below-average three-point shooting and offering lineup versatility.
Portland’s asking price reflects that upside. Still under contract through 2027, Camara is one of the few young bright spots on a 36–46 Blazers team and is seen as a foundational piece rather than trade bait.
Buha also weighed in on Robert Williams III, whose elite rim protection and rebounding could theoretically fit in L.A. “He’s a good rim protector, good rebounder, and a vertical lob threat,” Buha said. “But the big issue is the health… I wouldn’t give up a first-round pick for him.”
Williams has played just 61 games over the last three seasons and appeared in only 20 in 2024–25. Though talented, his durability makes him a risky proposition.
With both Camara and Williams valued highly, and Deandre Ayton’s $35 million salary complicating things further, the Lakers’ frontcourt makeover may prove more difficult than expected.
